This scheme was introduced in 2004 for children of in-service Government servants, to encourage bright students who show outstanding performance in the final results of Board and University examinations. Initially the scholarship was restricted to the top ten position holders only; over time, both the number and the amount of scholarships have been enhanced. Terms & Conditions
- Children of in-service provincial Government servants (regular Benevolent Fund subscribers) who have secured at least First Division (60%) are eligible for the scholarship.
- In case both parents are in service, only one shall apply of scholarship. Duplicate Merit Scholarship applications of same children are not allowed from both parents.
- A candidate who has availed any other Scholarship from any other source shall not be eligible for Merit Scholarship out of Benevolent Fund.
- Any attempt of submitting more than one application in respect of a child will be liable to disciplinary action.
- Scholarships are distributed according to the reserved / approved quota. Each category shall be further divided into sub-categories (Science, Arts, MBBS, Engineering, LLB, Veterinary Science, etc.), and the quota for each sub-category shall be fixed on the basis of the proportionate number of applications received in it.
- Scholarships remaining under any quota, after fulfilling the received applications, will be distributed among other categoires to accommodate maximum number of applicants.
- Canidates scoring equal marks will be treated equal in grant of scholarship regardless of the limit of reserved quota. Additonal funds if required in this case will be demanded in Revised Budget Estimates.
- The form must be verified by the head of the institution and submitted / routed through the head of the concerned department. The Head of Department / Institution shall ensure the accuracy of the statements before forwarding the Scholarship application. Direct / unverified applications will not be entertained.
- All columns of application form shall be filled-in neatly and legible by avoiding cuttings / re-writing.
- Incomplete applications and application received after cut-off date will not be entertained.
